Because schizophrenia is a lifelong illness, it’s important to have an action plan already in place for immediate help in a crisis—such as if you have thoughts of harming yourself or others.
If you live alone, start by establishing a connection with someone in your building or neighborhood who is easily accessible. Explain your situation and ask if he or she would be willing to help you in an emergency.
